Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, Director General, Charles Odii said it is addressing the power challenges faced by MSMEs in Nigeria.
According to the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, energy costs consist of over 30 per cent of businesses in the country.
The increase in petrol prices has further worsened the difficulties faced by struggling MSMEs, who are already burdened by numerous challenges related to their operating conditions.
During an inspection visit to Wuse Market on November 27, 2023, Odii assessed renewable energy solutions by Green Village Electricity, according to a statement.
Odii pledged, “We are actively seeking partnerships with Green Village Electricity and other stakeholders to provide sustainable energy solutions in identified clusters and Common Facility Centres marked by SMEDAN.”
Actively engaging with MSMEs in the market, he sought their perspectives on adopting renewable energy for both business growth and environmental conservation.
The DG instructed Onesi-Lawani Daberuje, who leads the Climate Energy and Sustainable Enterprises division, to promptly develop an implementation framework for the phased rollout of the renewable energy project.
