Just a little fyi, I've begun work on a Lottery module for ibEconomy. I've also included a langed version of jose.rob.jr's raffle shop item, so 1.5 will feature both a lotto system and raffle tickets. :)

Not sure if I'll be adding any other features with 1.5, if so they will be small additions most likely.

I hope to install a beta version here sometime over the next couple weeks, so stay tuned. I'll handout some points so we can test some short lotteries. :)

I won't be releasing a Beta version, but I'll be installing a Beta version on this forum for us to test. :)

Just a bit of an update, I've finished most of the administrative "paperwork" stuff (new databases, group fields, settings, etc), during which I've been contemplating the best way to handle the actual lottery stuff. Here is what I have so far:

Settings allow the admin to choose the number of "balls" and the number of digits per ball. Another setting determines if a winner is needed or if the pot can rollover to the next lotto. This should make for a lottery system close to how they are run here in the states (and I suspect elsewhere). The first 2 settings are good so tiny boards all the way up to huge boards can run effective lottos. So, for a board where maybe 25 total tickets will be sold per lotto, the admin might choose 2 balls and 1 digit per ball. That way there are (10 choose 2) possible winning combinations (45 total), so there is about a 50% chance of someone winning. Or if a board had thousands of tickets, the admin could go with 2 balls and 2 digits (4500 possibilities).

Its slow going, what with me working full time during the holidays and 2 mini-vacations for xmas and new years, but hopefully I can at least have something installed here before i go back to school.

Sounds like that is gonna be an awesome addition m8 :o

Other than that the only thing I would like to see would be a more customizable splash page for ibeconomy home. Be able to arrange blocks and such. Maybe find a way to fill the page a little more for boards that don't have alot of transactions and such other stuff.

thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean with your second points. You can already choose what frontpage you want for ibEconomy. And you can rearrange the ibEconomy sidebar blocks already. I might be misunderstanding, but in any case, please post any non-lottery feature requests in the ibEconomy support topic. :)

I got most of the cashier side of it done today... purchasing tickets via the cashier with some added checks and things. It got a bit complicated due to the fact that lottery tickets are quite different from the remaining shop items and investment items. Tomorrow I hope to finish the checkout phase and begin work on the fun stuff: drawing the winning numbers, and selecting the winners, etc.

Anyways, the main reason for my post, Happy New Years! :)

Sounds good!
Hope, that there will be some of my stock-ideas soon, too.

I missed the boat a bit... school started yesterday, but (at least in the beginning of the semester) I'll have some time on the weekends to get the lotto stuff finished. :)

We hit the ground running in my classes this semester, so no extra time for ibEconomy, but I might get some work done tomorrow. :)

How do the upgrades work, will I need to reinstall the shop items?

No, the upgrades are seamless and painless, just like IPB official apps. :)

Hi, just had a quick question regarding a concern I had.

I was just curious if this mod will be upgraded for 3.2 when released?

Well, I would hope that it wouldn't need upgrading to work with 3.2. I kinda assumed with the advancements in third-party application building standards that came with 3.0 and grew with 3.1, that new versions of IPB wouldn't require much tweaks within the third-party apps. But with that being said, I have every intention of keeping ibEconomy working on the latest version of IPB, whatever version that may be. :)

Is there something specific about 3.2 that would lead you to believe ibEconomy wouldn't be compatible? Or are you just being hypothetical? I haven't had time to read on any IPB news, so I don't know any specs on 3.2 or anything.
