The way to install all my apps is to first upload the files and then to go to ACP->System->Manage Applications & Modules and find the row for the particular app you just uploaded and click the Install button (or Upgrade Available) if you are upgrading.

Sometimes you will go to that page and not see either button and wonder what went wrong. In that case, most likely the files weren't uploaded properly. This can happen if you accidentally uploaded the "upload" folder itself instead of just the contents of the "upload" folder or if you didn't upload all the files or uploaded them in some place other than your forum's root directory.

Here are a couple of files to look for, for my popular apps. If you can't find them on your server, then that implies an error occured in the upload process and you'll want to upload the files again. Note that FORUM_ROOT is simply my way of meaning the root folder where all your forum files reside.

ibEconomy
  • FORUM_ROOT/admin/applications_addon/other/ibEconomy/xml/versions.xml
Custom Sidebar Blocks
  • FORUM_ROOT/admin/applications_addon/other/customSidebarBlocks/xml/versions.xml
Custom Name Style
  • FORUM_ROOT/admin/applications_addon/other/customNameStyle/xml/versions.xml
If the file isn't there, you'll want to redo the upload process. The easiest way to do that, is to open your FTP program and navigate to the root of your forum. The root directory should have these files/folders in it (among others):
  • admin
  • cache
  • public
  • uploads
  • conf_global.php
  • etc
Once you are in that folder, you'll want to upload the contents of the upload folder into it. The way I've arranged the folders to upload is set so that you don't have to dig down into the app folders and stuff to upload, just simply upload all the contents in the "upload" folder provided with the app to that top level and everything should fall into place. You can reassure yourself by noticing that both have the "admin" folder, which means the levels are synced properly.

If you still can't find the buttons and you've uploaded the files properly, please post!
