I get all types of questions like this, so I figured I should consolidate the answers into this thread. Most users who request extra features to put their own ideas into the ibEconomy shop probably don't even know that there is no need for new features and that most things can be done already.
ibEconomy contains 3 "dummy" or "generic" shop items, which can be used for all types of things:
- Blank Unusable Item
- Secret Message
- Send PM to ID
1. Blank Unusable Item:
This is the first "generic" item ibEconomy included. It is the simplest of all the items. As you can guess from the title, it doesn't do anything. So if you wanted to sell items in a "Favorite Video Games" category so your users can purchase instances of their favorite games to show off around the forum. Or Pikachu and other characters if your users want to show off their favorite Pokemon characters. Basically, if you just want to allow your members to show off, this is the item to use. Feel free to show off by buying a Pokemon character here.
2. Secret Message
This item is good in case you want to post something to the purchaser that you want to keep hidden from others. A prime example would be coupon codes. When you are adding the item, simply input the message, and then when a user purchases and uses it, they will receive a PM with the "secret" contents. This item includes the ability to "use" the item on others, so one thing that could be used for is birthday messages. If Alice was having a birthday, and Bob knew that, he could buy the item, then "use" it on Alice which will send her the pre-defined Happy Birthday message.
3. Send PM to ID
This is the latest shop item to be included in ibEconomy. It is kinda a hybrid of the above two items. If you need to sell items which will display some instructions when the item is used, and also have a place for the user to input some text to be sent to a particular user (most likely you, the admin, ID = 1), then this item is perfect. The main example that comes to mind is selling physical goods. If you, let's say, sell t-shirts with your site's logo, you could add one of these items and label it "T-Shirt!". Then for instructions you could input "Please provide your shipping address". Then when the user purchases it, and uses the item, they will input their shipping address and your will receive the PM and you can then ship them a t-shirt.
Hopefully that is enough info to keep you guys busy for a while.
