Ah, I shouldve asked if you had other hooks in and around that area in the template. There must have been a conflict with that particular hook point I suggested earlier, I changed it t some others and they all worked fine. Right above the warn looked best to me, so I left it there. You can play with it and move it before or after any of the other places by messing with The userInfoPane Hook file again.

ETA: what file do I need to edit to change the background? I want to make it look like a ribbon behind it with the sides hugging the outside border of the member pane... like the mod for Xenforo.

There are two HTML templates that are used by this hook, they are in the Topic collection of templates. If I remember correctly they both begin with "postAuthorStatus". If your setting is set to the tab version, then edit the first one, if it is set to use the non tab, edit the template that ends with "noTab".
