The DataStore

I'm not sure if I have the energy to write this blog post. The groupies and I spent all day yesterday and today in the lab working on the second phase of World Crisis. And we still aren't completely done! Building a website from scratch is no small feat! With every new design addition comes twice as many other areas that need fixing. I don't think I'll ever get along with CSS, but hopefully one day I will. Contrarily, I am starting to like working with the Google App Engine DataStore.

The GAE DataStore has such a simple API, which makes it quite nice. Need to query all rows in a DB model? Just use all(). Need to know how many total rows, use count(). I suppose it isn't that much simpler than SQL, but I'm still enjoying the experience. However I imagine with phase 3 that won't be the case. While phase 2 only requires grabbing all the rows of a particular DB, phase 3 incorporates search, which I'm sure will be fun. :)

My brain hurts, literally. I better stop writing so I can check the reading required for tomorrow. Even though it seems the reading has been a day ahead of the quizzes... so maybe I'm good to go already.
